The current and former head of the Economic Court were charged with abuse of influence.
Law enforcement officials exposed the current and former chairmen of the Economic Court of the Lvov Region for extorting a bribe in the amount of $1 million from a representative of a private company. This was announced by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, December 9.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the detainees had promised to ensure that the necessary decisions were made in court cases pending in one of the economic appeals courts, the report said.
During the investigation, NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors documented the transfer of part of the illegal benefit in the amount of $75,000.
Currently, they are charged with criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
In this regard, the publication Zerkalo Nedeli previously reported that on December 5, NABU conducted searches of the head of the Economic Court of the Lviv Region, Vasily Artimovich, and the former head of the Western Economic Court of Appeal, Boris Plotnitsky.
And on December 3, the SBI announced the detention of the former deputy chairman of the Supreme Economic Court of Ukraine, who, along with other judges, built a “business” on court decisions. The next day he was arrested.
