The South Korean parliament failed to vote to impeach President Yoon Seok-yol.
The draft impeachment law was submitted to the plenary session of the National Assembly. However, on December 7, representatives of the ruling People Power party, with the exception of three deputies, did not participate in the voting. Consequently, only 195 of the 300 registered deputies voted, but 200 votes were needed to approve the document. This was reported by Yonhap.
However, Congressman Lee Zhe-meng said his allies will continue to insist that a vote to impeach the president will have to be held until it is passed.
In this process, we will see how anti-people and anti-state the People’s Power party is, and how the leader of the uprising will be exposed for criminal activities,” he noted.
Today’s voting in the South Korean parliament continued with rallies outside the National Assembly.
Let us recall that on December 3, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yol announced the introduction of martial law in the country to “destroy pro-North Korean forces and maintain constitutional order.”
Parliament reversed this decision six hours later. And the Korean police already suspect President Yoon Seok-yol of treason due to his attempt to impose martial law.
