Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad fled Syria.
He and his family traveled to the United Arab Emirates and are now in Abu Dhabi. Turkish media reported this on the evening of December 7, citing sources in the UAE.
And CNN, citing a source, reports that Assad is not in Damascus. This is indicated by the presence of his presidential guard. Assad’s security is no longer stationed at his usual residence. It is indicated that the guard is accompanying Assad somewhere along the way. Therefore, assumptions are being made that the dictator has already left Damascus.
Meanwhile, the commander of the Syrian army addressed the people instead of Assad. He said the military was “actively conducting operations against terrorists in Hama, Homs and Darya, destroying dozens of vehicles and weapons depots.” He also added that defenses near Damascus are being strengthened.
Let us remind you that Syrian rebels said that on December 7 they captured the city of Daraa, which is located in the south of the country. It is the fourth city lost to Bashar al-Assad’s forces in a week. And on December 6, a US-backed alliance led by Syrian Kurds captured Deir el-Zor, the government’s main foothold in the vast eastern desert.
Information also appeared on the network that today the Damascus suburb of Douma came under the control of the rebels after the flight of the Syrian army.
