Russia has lost a significant advantage in artillery on the battlefield – the ratio of shelling has decreased to 1.5 Russian shells for every Ukrainian. Previously, the Russians had a fivefold advantage in this indicator.
This was reported by SkyNews, citing anonymous sources among Western officials.
The publication’s sources explain this by a “wide range of factors”:
- restrictions on Russian military production lines;
- difficulties in transporting more shells to the front by rail;
- Ukrainian drone strikes on strategic stockpiles of Russian and North Korean ammunition located on Russian territory;
- supplies of ammunition to the West, which help strengthen the Ukrainian arsenal.
However, according to interlocutors, the huge number of Russian glide bombs appears to compensate for the diminishing advantage over Ukraine on the artillery front. According to one source, there has been a “massive increase in the use of Russian glide bombs at the front with devastating effect.”
The publication’s interlocutors note that although Russian troops still continue to seize territory in Ukraine, this is happening at a terrifying cost and is reminiscent of the bloodiest moments of the First World War:
- On November 28, Russian troops lost 2 thousand people – “a new maximum of the war”, for the first time the number of dead and wounded exceeded the 2 thousand mark;
- The average daily number of killed and wounded Russian military personnel in Ukraine for the entire November exceeded 1.5 thousand for the third month in a row, which is an average of 1 thousand 523 people.
