The pro-Russian leader of the presidential race wants to end military aid to Kyiv and ban grain transit.
The leader of the first round of the presidential race in Romania, Calin Georgescu, said that if elected, he would ban the export of Ukrainian grain through Romania and military aid to Ukraine. Reuters reported this on Wednesday, December 4.
“It is impossible to imagine that there will be a war in Europe near us, so the priority is clearly that this war in Ukraine must be stopped immediately,” Georgescu said.
In addition, he believes that Bucharest is not obliged to comply with NATO’s defense spending commitments.
“I believe in one thing: Romania is not obligated to anyone,” the far-right candidate emphasized.
Georgescu also believes that Romanian companies should have a majority in any venture with foreign investors, because decision-making should remain in Romania and not with foreigners.
Georgescu questioned the effectiveness of the European Union’s funding, noting that the country has other investors.
It was previously reported that pro-Russian far-right politician Calin Georgescu won the presidential election in Romania in the first round. The second round of voting, where he will face Elena Lasconi, will take place on Sunday, December 8th.
We remind you that the parliamentary elections were held in Romania on Sunday, December 1. The total turnout for this vote was very high compared to previous elections.
