Sibiga brought the Budapest Memorandum to NATO headquarters.
This day marks the 30th anniversary of this paper. This is true proof, a real reminder that any long-term solutions regarding the long-term security of Ukraine are inappropriate and unacceptable. This document, this paper could not ensure the security of Ukraine and transatlantic security.
Sibiga also called for the transfer of at least 20 air defense systems to Ukraine, in particular Hawk, NASAMS, IRIS-T, in order to prevent an energy blackout.
The minister, who is currently on a visit to Brussels, emphasized that this will ensure Ukraine’s energy sustainability in the winter and avoid blackouts.
We will discuss the concept of “peace through strength” with our partners. We have a clear understanding of what steps our friends need to take to do our homework,” he added.
Let us remind you that Ukraine officially refuses guarantees that are substitutes for NATO membership.
The statement by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasizes that it was made “on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Budapest Memorandum.” The document was made public two days before the specified date.
The Foreign Ministry also reminds that this is not only about Ukrainian and not only European security, since the attack on Ukraine, contrary to the 1994 agreements, “exploded confidence in the very idea of nuclear disarmament” and revived “active attempts by various countries from the Indo-Pacific region and the Middle East to create or expand existing nuclear arsenals to the Euro-Atlantic space.”
