Azerbaijan began supplying gas to Slovakia.
A short-term pilot contract was concluded by the Azerbaijani company SOCAR and the Slovakian SPP. Thus, Slovakia has already become the 12th country that receives Azerbaijani gas. The countries plan to continue to cooperate, says the Socar website.
On December 1, the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR began supplying gas to Slovakia’s largest state energy operator SPP. Supplies are made on the basis of a short-term pilot contract between SOCAR and SPP. The companies are aimed at developing long-term energy partnerships.
Slovakia became the 12th country receiving Azerbaijani gas, along with Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia.
Slovakia is looking for alternative sources of gas supplies because the agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the export of Russian gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory expires at the end of 2024.
