The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy proposes a new bill to create the Supreme Administrative Court.
The DEJURE Foundation writes that this law could destroy the creation of an independent court and form a new manual one.
In general, the bill proposes the creation of an Expert Council. It should include three international and three Ukrainian experts, who will be appointed by the Council of Judges of Ukraine (CJU).
In particular, the SSU is headed by Bogdan Monich, who had connections with the Chairman of the OASC Pavel Vovk and a close associate of Yanukovych Andrei Portnov.
Also, the Expert Council will not be able to independently select candidates for the position of judges. This can result in a closed and controlled process.
Let us remind you that the creation of the Supreme Administrative Court is a requirement of the IMF and the EU (Ukraine Facility program). The deadline for its implementation is the end of 2024.
