The European Union will continue to provide economic, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine. In particular, by the end of the year, 4.2 billion euros will be allocated to support the Ukrainian budget, and next year the EU will transfer 1.5 billion euros to Ukraine every month.
The President of the European Council, António Costa, announced this today, December 1, at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv, the Ukrinform agency reports.
“Already this month, the European Union will provide Ukraine with an additional 4.2 billion euros to support the Ukrainian budget,” he noted. “In addition to this, starting next month (January – ed.), we will provide another 1.5 billion euros of aid every month all year round.”
According to Kosht, these funds will be obtained from the use of frozen Russian assets and they can also be used for military purposes.
Costa also emphasized that the European Union will increase pressure on the Russian economy and is already preparing the 15th package of sanctions to weaken Russia’s ability to continue its criminal war against Ukraine.
