In December, the Hungarian prime minister could be Trump’s envoy to the leaders of Ukraine, Russia and China.
US President-elect Donald Trump held several phone conversations with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban after the election. Radio Liberty reported this on Saturday, November 30, citing sources in its Hungarian service.
It was noted that, according to Hungarian government sources, Trump is interested in Orban’s opinion on the end of the war in Ukraine.
“Orban, who maintains close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, is critical of EU aid to Ukraine and obstructing the bloc’s sanctions regime against Moscow,” the publication said.
Orban is also reportedly preparing for new peacekeeping trips in December. Its details are unclear, but, according to sources at Radio Liberty’s Hungarian service, it may include sending messages from Trump to Zelensky, Putin and Chinese President Xi.
As you know, on July 2, Orban visited Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of a full-scale war and met with President Vladimir Zelensky. He suggested that the Ukrainian side cease fire and then start peace talks with Russia.
Later, it became known that Orban had arrived in Moscow. The Kremlin reported that the prime minister will meet with Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine will be one of the main topics.
Orban is a peacemaker. Results of the visit to Moscow
