The politician believes that Putin would have attacked Ukraine earlier if it had not blocked our country’s entry into NATO.

Russia must not win the war it is waging on Ukrainian territory. The former Federal Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, announced this on Friday, November 29, on the talk show Majbrit Ilner on the ZDF channel.

“Russia should not win this war. This is a blatant violation of international law that Putin has committed in relation to Ukraine,” Merkel said.

At the same time, the Chancellor said that “it is always necessary to think through diplomatic solutions in parallel.”

“These decisions do not need to be applied now. When the right moment comes, it should be discussed together by all parties: Ukraine and its supporters,” he said.

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she admires the courage of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky but strongly disagrees with his view that his blocking of Ukraine’s entry into NATO led to the war in Ukraine.
