In Tbilisi, on the night of Friday, November 29, special forces dispersed participants in an anti-government protest using water cannons and tear gas, Echo of the Caucasus reports.

“The security forces used water cannons and tear gas against the demonstrators. In addition, the special forces used force when stopping and chasing the participants of the protest who were caught under the water jets. cannon reported burns to the skin and eyes,” the publication said.

The square in front of the Georgian Parliament building was cleared of protesters.

The protesters’ barricades were blown away by water cannons, and the area in front of the parliament was controlled by special forces.

During the dispersal of the peaceful demonstration, the leader of the Droa party, Elene Khoshtaria, was injured.

Protesters continued to be detained on Rustaveli Avenue and the Kashveti Cathedral, where they hoped to take shelter from tear gas.

They wrote on social networks that the protesters are not giving up and are building new barricades after the previous ones were blown away by a water cannon.

Let’s recall that on Thursday, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, said that the country decided to postpone accession negotiations with the European Union until the end of 2028.

After that, a spontaneous rally began in Tbilisi, accompanied by President Salome Zurabishvili for the first time.
