The publishing house Naukova Dumka has stopped its activities by the decision of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The scientific and production company Vidavnitstvo Naukova Dumka ceased its activities after 102 years of operation. Chitomo reported this on Thursday, November 28, with reference to the publisher.
According to the head of the book distribution department, Victoria Ageeva, Naukova Dumka stopped its activities by the decision of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine. The workers were notified of their layoffs two months before the company ceased operations.
“The 102-year-old school Naukova Dumka has been liquidated. Nobody can buy books from us anymore,” said Ageeva.
According to Opendatabot, a service for monitoring registration data of Ukrainian companies, the institutions started bankruptcy proceedings on October 5, 2024.
The bookstore on Tereshchenkovskaya Street in Kyiv and the online store of the publishing house are also closing.
As Elena Zhuk, chairman of the termination commission, said, Naukova Dumka will be removed as part of the optimization process from the National Academy of Sciences. He assured that the publishing house will complete the remaining editions.
The last day of operation of the Vidavnitstva Naukova Dumka bookstore is December 2, 2024.
