The British government has extended for another 18 months the visas of Ukrainian refugees staying in the country under a sponsorship program introduced since the start of the widespread war. This was reported by the press service of the British government on Tuesday, November 26.
To extend your visa, you must submit an application it will not be automatic. Applications open on February 4, 2025. You must apply for a visa extension 28 days before its expiration date.
You can only apply for a visa extension in the UK. During the application review period (eight weeks), you cannot travel abroad. But all this time, legal status and all rights are maintained.
Time spent in the UK under this scheme does not count towards the 10-year qualifying period for permanent residence.
Let’s remember that in 2023, the countries of the European Union issued a record number of so-called initial residence permits for third-country nationals – 3.7 million. Citizens of Ukraine received the most permits.
