Russia’s aggression against Ukraine also threatens international freedom, openness and peace, Brink said.
The Holodomor was a tragedy not only because of the famine, but because it was a planned measure whose purpose was to destroy the spirit of the Ukrainian people, now Russia is once again using food as a weapon and instrument of power and coercion. This is what US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said on Holodomor Remembrance Day on the social network X on Saturday, November 23.
“Russian troops have destroyed agricultural infrastructure, stolen Ukrainian grain, and blockaded and attacked Ukraine’s Black Sea ports. All of this is part of Russia’s attempts to destroy Ukraine’s economy. However , such attacks also affect countries and people around the world who depend on Ukrainian grain.” , said Brink.
The US Ambassador also noted that Russia’s invasion is full of freedom, openness and peace in the world.

We remind you that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, made a statement in connection with honoring the victims of the Holodomor, in which he promised Ukraine additional support from Washington.
On November 23, Ukraine commemorates the victims of the Holodomor. The day of remembrance is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of November.
In the twentieth century, Ukrainians experienced three Holodomors: 1921-1923, 1932-1933 and the famine of 1946-1947. The biggest was the famine of 1932-1933 – this is the so-called genocide of the Ukrainian people, carried out by the Joseph Stalin regime.
