In the current week, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has twice found itself on the brink of blackout due to continued shelling by the enemy.
Energy workers continued operation of the high-voltage overhead line connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant to Ukraine’s unified energy system, which was damaged by enemy shelling. The Ministry of Energy announced this on Saturday, November 23.
“This week, Zaporozhye NPP was twice on the verge of blackout due to continuous enemy shelling. Currently, the work of one of the power lines of Zaporozhye NPP, which was damaged as a result of shelling, is continued. The station will receive electricity again through two power lines. I thank the power engineers for the work,” said Energy Minister German Galushchenko.
At the same time, he stressed that the situation at the station remains a threat.
“I emphasize again that only the return of control over the nuclear power plant to Ukraine can guarantee the safe operation of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe,” the minister concluded.
We remind you that on November 21, Zaporizhia NPP again found itself on the verge of blackout due to Russian shelling. Energy workers could not begin repairs immediately because of the threat of new strikes.
Earlier, the IAEA reported an incident at the Zaporizhia NPP. In reactor no. 1, a microcrack was discovered in the cooling pump support system pipeline.
