The former law enforcement officer followed the instructions of the occupiers to create the appearance of legitimacy of their power in the region.
The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison to a former high official of one of the law enforcement agencies of the Donetsk region. The press service of the State Bureau of Investigation reported this on Friday, November 22.
The former law enforcement officer betrayed Ukraine in 2014 and served the occupiers in various positions. After the start of the large-scale Russian invasion in April 2022, he headed the so-called “Ministry of Justice of the DPR.”
In this position, the defendant actively followed the instructions of the Russian invaders to create in the region the appearance of the legitimacy of their power.
The former law enforcement official continued to participate in public speeches on the creation and operation of so-called “justice units” in the occupied territories. In particular, such performances were carried out by the suspect in Mariupol, Volnovakha and nearby villages.
Also, the fake minister took part in the opening of the “registry office department” in occupied Mariupol and signed a cooperation agreement between the “DPR Ministry of Justice” and the Russian Ministry of Justice in May 2023.
The court found the former law enforcement officer guilty of collaboration and sentenced him to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
We remind you that earlier investigators of the National Police expressed suspicion to the judge of the “Supreme Court of the DPR” and investigators of the “General Prosecutor of the DPR” for arresting Ukrainians for non- crime committed.
