Russian missiles and attack drones violate state airspace during Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
Moldova plans to buy two modern radar systems that can identify and destroy enemy drones. The systems will be part of the country’s air defense. Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosatii said this on Thursday, November 21, tv8.md reports.
According to him, to ensure complete surveillance of the country’s skies, five more air defense systems are needed, including not only surveillance equipment, but also the destruction of air targets.
Nosatii noted that Moldova is looking for opportunities to acquire more systems that will allow timely detection and notification of citizens about possible danger.
“We are in the process of procurement and delivery. Later I will give details, but I will not talk about technical details, because they can be used by ill-wishers,” he said.
According to the minister, at the moment we are talking about two systems – observation and destruction.
“These are quite complex installations, their work is complicated, starting with guns, machine guns and missiles of various types and requiring serious investment,” said Nosaty.
As you know, UAVs launched by Russia in Ukraine regularly crash in Moldova. One of them recently fell near a shopping center in Chisinau.
