The UK’s support for Ukraine has always been aimed at self-defense, which was noted in London.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the recently elected leader of the opposition Conservative Party, Camie Badenoch, noted the need for additional support for Ukraine. The Guardian reported this on Thursday, November 21.
“We have consistently said that we will do everything we can to support Ukraine and put it in a better position as it enters the winter. The UK’s support for Ukraine has always been aimed at self-defence. It is proportionate, coordinated and quickly, in response to Russia’s actions and in compliance with international law under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” Starmer said.
He noted that Ukraine has a clear right to self-defense against Russia’s unlawful attacks.
“I say again that Russia can withdraw its troops and end this war tomorrow, but until then we will stand for what we think is right for the security of Ukraine and for our own security , and we will support Ukraine with what is necessary and as long as necessary,” he added.
Opposition Conservative Party leader Camie Badenoch added that Ukraine is fighting for its survival.
“We think about the people of Ukraine every day, but these thoughts must be turned into actions, actions on our part and on the part of our allies. concluded Badenoch.
The UK Ministry of Defense reported training more than five thousand Ukrainian combat medics.
