Moldova has signed a security and defense partnership agreement with the UK. Reuters reported this on Wednesday, November 20.

It was noted that Britain and Romania offered their support to Moldova in overcoming the consequences of Russia’s 1,000-day invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

According to the UK statement, the purpose of the agreement is to expand cooperation between the two countries and strengthen Moldova’s resilience to external threats. British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy noted a significant influx of Ukrainian refugees to Moldova after the Russian invasion began in February 2022, including 50 thousand children.

As part of the cooperation, a readmission agreement was also signed, which will ensure the return of Moldovan citizens living illegally in the UK. In addition, London will provide £2 million to improve Moldova’s defenses against cyber attacks and £5 million to strengthen the health system to help refugees.

As you know, UAVs launched by Russia in Ukraine regularly crash in Moldova. One of them recently fell near a shopping center in Chisinau.
