North Korean soldiers are undergoing tactical and counter-drone training as part of Russian forces, and some of the military are already participating in combat.
The DPRK military sent to Russia are part of the Russian airborne and naval units where they train. Some of them are already participating in the battle. This was reported on Wednesday, November 20, by the South Korean publication Dong-A Ilbo, citing the country’s National Intelligence Service (NIS).
It was noted that North Korea provided additional weapons to Russia, in particular, 170 mm self-propelled artillery system and 240 mm multiple launch rocket system.
The NIS confirmed that at the end of October, North Korean troops were deployed in the Kursk region, an active combat zone.
The NIS also suggests there have been North Korean military casualties.
“Since North Korean troops are engaged in front line battles, we believe that there are already dead among them, however, we are still clarifying the specific information,” the intelligence agency said.
Regarding media reports about North Korean prisoners, intelligence officials said: “There is a lot of conflicting information, so we continue to clarify these data.”
It was previously reported that the North Korean troops that came to help the Russians were led by Brigadier General Kim Yong Bok.
We remind you that, according to media reports, North Korea may send a total of up to 100 thousand of its military to support Russia’s war in Ukraine.
