Former soldier of the Kalinovsky Regiment Vasily Kalinovsky was detained in Vietnam.

    .

According to several independent Belarusian media, he has already been handed over to the special services of Alexander Lukashenko.

Footage of him appeared in the state propaganda of Belarus. According to Nasha Niva, Kalinovsky was detained on November 13, and released by the KGB on November 14, which indicates that the operation was planned.

The circumstances of the arrest are not precisely known. As well as how Lukashenko’s regime tracked down the former fighter of the regiment Kalinovsky.

Several Belarusian media wrote that the Ukrainian consul in Vietnam was warned about the possible detention, because Veremeychik had a Ukrainian military ID. However, Kyiv’s reaction to the detention is unknown.

    What is known about Veremeychik

Vasily studied at a Belarusian-language school and served in Pec.

He is 34 years old, he is from Soligorsk. But he spent most of his life in Minsk – he studied at the Belarusian-language gymnasium No. 9, and later in the history class of the BSU Lyceum.

He was first detained by the police in 2005 for renaming Francysk Skaryna Avenue.

I was 15 years old then. Mom was called to school, she said that she was proud of me, the class applauded. “I took part in the Square in 2006,” Vasily told Radio Liberty.

Veremeychik graduated from the Military Academy of Belarus and served in Pechi. He left the service in 2016 with the rank of lieutenant, after which he worked in IT.

In 2020, Veremeychik supported the movement for free elections and participated in protests. In November 2020, he was detained on suspicion of setting fire to the cars of prosecutors. After 10 days of arrest, he was released: no evidence was found.

At the beginning of 2021, due to the threat of re-arrest, he emigrated to Ukraine and lived with his family in Lviv. In February 2022, Vasily joined the then Belarusian battalion named after Kastus Kalinovsky. He took the call sign rat.

The husband was the deputy of “Brest” (Ivan Marchuk) in the “Volat” battalion. He fought in the Kherson, Nikolaev and Lugansk regions.

In April 2022, in the Nikolaev region, Patsuk was wounded in a heavy battle. Then, out of seven fighters, only two survived. Veremeychyk was awarded the “Ukraine Above All!” medal.

After Vasily left Kalinowski’s Regiment, he lived in Vilnius. Together with other former fighters, he established the Association of Belarusian Volunteers. Based on the fact that Vasily was previously a Belarusian military man, Lithuania considered him a threat to national security. The man had to leave the country. It was impossible to return to Ukraine because I received an entry ban.

“Nasha Niva” writes about a possible conflict with the headquarters of the Kalinovsky regiment.
