The Russian satellite constellation may consist of up to 290 spacecraft, a corresponding clarification was made by the Deputy General Director of Roscosmos.
Russia’s satellite constellation currently consists of 290 spacecraft, said Roscosmos Deputy General Director Olga Vilkova. This was reported by the Russian media on Wednesday, November 20.
“In total, the Russian orbital constellation is currently estimated at 290 satellites,” Vilkova said at a plenary session in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
On April 12, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov, said that Russia’s satellite constellation consists of more than 240 devices, and more than 100 more are planned to be launched by the end of 2024.
Let’s recall that the Russian military satellite Cosmos-2542, capable of monitoring the state of the spacecraft, left orbit and burned up in the atmosphere.
Earlier it became known that Russia planned to create a low-orbit satellite constellation that would provide broadband Internet access.
