The false documents were sold to citizens of Ukraine, Moldova and Russia for 350-400 euros and they were registered to the addresses of deceased Romanians.
In Romania, a large network of fraudsters was exposed, who were engaged in the production of forged documents and sold them to citizens of Ukraine, Moldova and Russia. This was reported by Digi24.
It was noted that the defendants acted in cooperation with officials of two mayor’s offices in the east of the country – in Botosani County, near the borders of Ukraine and Moldova. The scammers looked for abandoned houses whose owners had died or emigrated, and with the help of city hall officials, they created fake Romanian identity cards, which they later sold to Ukrainian citizens, Moldova and Russia in the amount of 350-400 euros and registered them at the addresses of the deceased Romanians.
Names, places of birth, etc. can be arbitrarily replaced in documents. Sometimes people are registered in places that are clearly not residential. In one community in Botosani County alone, 10 thousand of these documents were produced.
We remind you that the SBU exposed a network of underground printing houses that printed fake documents for legalization in the EU. As a result of a special operation, nine members of the group were detained in different regions of the state.
Previously, a resident of Kiev was exposed for helping Russian citizens to become legal in the countries of the European Union.
