The sale of the plant is prohibited in Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers, by Resolution No. 1306 of November 15, added kratom and mitarginine to the list of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors. People’s Deputy Dmitry Gurin announced this on November 19 on the social network X.
Kratom and mitragynine are prohibited – they are included in the list of psychotropic substances whose circulation is limited, along with ketamine and amphetamine. Starting today, you can’t sell kratom in cafes, hurray, the message says.
As we know, kratom is a plant that grows in tree form in Southeast Asia and is a naturally occurring psychoactive drug. It includes the psychoactive alkaloid mitragynine.
Kratom comes to Ukraine in the form of powdered ground leaves. In particular, teas are produced from this plant. Sellers present his drink as “increasing the body’s energy levels and relieving pain.”
Let us recall that in May of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine excluded cannabis from the list of hard drugs. Changes on hemp were made to comply with the requirements of the law “On amendments to certain laws of Ukraine regarding state regulation of the circulation of plants of the genus hemp (Cannabis) for use for educational purposes, educational, scientific and scientific-technical activities, production of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and medicines with the goal of increasing patient access to needed treatment.”
