In Kyiv, a person who died in an accident became a posthumous donor for four people.
The donor was a 46-year-old Kiev resident who was driving a motorcycle and was involved in an accident. Despite the efforts of doctors, it was not possible to save the man – the injuries were incompatible with life.
This was discussed at the Ukrainian Transplant Coordination Center.
The wife and son of a man who died in an accident, who grew up in a Muslim family, agreed to posthumous donation. While still alive, he discussed with his family the possibility of becoming a donor after death.
The decision they made made it possible to give hope for a fulfilling life to four people.
A heart was transplanted into a 56-year-old man at the Heart Institute. At the same time, the team of the National Scientific Center for Surgery and Transplantology named after. A.A. Shalimova transplanted a liver to a 24-year-old military patient and a kidney to a 34-year-old man. Another kidney was transplanted to a 17-year-old boy at the Kiev City Center for Nephrology and Dialysis. All patients are already undergoing a rehabilitation period.
