NASA conducts various scientific research not only in space, but also on Earth, related to the study of the atmosphere.
The American space agency NASA used a rocket complex on the island of Andøya at the Anneya space center in northern Norway to study gravitational waves. This caused unusual clouds to appear in the sky. Space wrote this on Saturday, November 16.
“Two NASA research rockets were launched this week as part of the Vortex 2 experiment. Its purpose is to study the transfer of energy between the lower and upper atmosphere,” the report said.
It is stated that the scientific purpose of Vortex 2 is to study how air and energy from the lower layers of the atmosphere affect those above and how these influences create vortices.
To study these interactions, scientists released 16 canisters of trimethylaluminum into the atmosphere, creating glowing clouds.
“These clouds are a visualization of atmospheric turbulence and vortex formation,” explains Thomas Gansmo, director of sounding rockets and engineering services at Andøya Space Sub-Orbital.
It was previously reported that NASA’s James Webb Telescope took a picture of the young star cluster NGC 602, located 200 thousand light years from Earth.
