The Russian Boris Epstein from the team of the elected 47th US President Donald Trump offered himself for the post of special envoy to resolve Russia’s war against Ukraine. The NYT writes about it.

Epstein, who coordinated Trump’s criminal defense, approached the president-elect about becoming a special envoy for the Russia-Ukraine war, according to four people briefed on the matter.

Mr. Epstein, who was born in Russia and lived there as a child, has no foreign policy experience. He told the group that he had family on both sides.

Trump is interested in this proposal and has not rejected it, but has not yet agreed, the source said.

We recently reported that Trump will soon appoint a special representative for peace issues in Ukraine. He should lead the negotiations with Russia to end the war.

Earlier, the Washington Post, citing its sources, reported that Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke by phone on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine. The publication says that Kyiv was informed about this conversation and did not object to what happened.
