Europe must do more to protect itself and Ukraine, because the kind of Europe its residents will live in tomorrow depends on whether Kyiv wins.
If the West had given Ukraine more in the first weeks or months of the war, perhaps the war would have ended long ago. Now the allies must do everything possible to ensure that Kyiv survives. Defense Minister Anno Pevkur said this on Friday, November 15, ERR reports.
“We in the West cannot talk about fatigue. How can we be tired if the men there are fighting for Ukraine, mothers, daughters, and next year it was decided to allocate 0.25% of the GDP of Estonia? 100-plus million euros for military aid to Ukraine,” he said.
Pevkur noted that by 2023, almost half of defense investments in Estonia will return to the national economy.
“This shows that the defense budget not only strengthens security, but also stimulates the country’s economic growth,” said Pevkur.
He added that Ukraine continues to need an air defense system, heavy weapons, ammunition, and drones.
“We went from one point to another and saw drones flying, I would say that there is optimism, they are not worried about the victory of Trump, but the main question is what damage will Russia cause to the critical that infrastructure,” Pevkur said.
We remind you that Estonia will start building a defense line on the border with Russia in 2025. Within the project, 600 bunkers will be built.
Earlier it was reported that Estonia planned to change the structure of military aid to Ukraine, focusing it on the products of Estonian enterprises.
