Once the technical studies are completed, an agreement is expected between Turkey and the Eurofighter consortium with the participation of Germany, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.
Germany has given the first permit for the sale of 40 Eurofighters to Turkey. The BBC reports this with reference to sources in the Turkish Ministry of Defense.
After the completion of technical studies, an agreement is expected between Turkey and the Eurofighter consortium with the participation of Germany, Great Britain, Spain and Italy.
It is noted that Germany, unlike Great Britain, Spain and Italy, has long opposed this sale.
Germany gave the first step in the process days before the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul in October. In this context, technical negotiations were held with Turkey, led by Britain, on the sale of the Eurofighter. These negotiations, to which Germany did not object, discussed what aircraft would be purchased, how and how often they would be maintained if the aircraft were purchased, and how the pilots would be trained.
It was previously reported that Germany will acquire 20 more Eurofighters to strengthen its defense. The purchase of fighter jets is in addition to an order for 38 aircraft, which is still being prepared.
We remind you that Ukraine will receive from France six Mirage 2000-5F fighters in the first batch.
