People went to the parliament building, where they were supposed to vote for the ratification of an agreement that would give Russian business unprecedented benefits in the region. The protesters threw smoke bombs, and they broke the fence around the building.
Local Telegram channels report the use of gas and the sound of gunshots.
The previous day, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Lasha Ashuba, announced the cancellation of the parliament meeting because the representatives failed to approve the agenda. Two of the 35 representatives were present at the meeting.
