The government has adopted changes to provide one-time cash assistance to the families of missing military personnel who were later declared dead.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense reported this today, November 13.
According to the changes:
- now the deadline for submitting documents is calculated not from the date of death indicated in the certificate, but from the entry into force of the court decision declaring the military man dead;
- family members will have three years to obtain assistance from the moment the court decision enters into legal force.
It is noted that previously the three-year period for providing documents to receive assistance was counted from the date of death indicated in the certificate.
This led to the fact that close relatives of military personnel, whom the court declared dead after a long absence, could lose the right to assistance due to the expiration of deadlines even before the court decision itself was made, the Ministry of Defense noted.
An extraordinary payment of a lump sum benefit has also been introduced for persons with group I disabilities.
This is due to the fact that such people require urgent and expensive treatment. Often, due to the long waiting period in the general queue, they do not have time to receive help during their lifetime, the government added.
