US President-elect Donald Trump has offered American TV presenter and former military man Pete Hegseth the position of head of the Pentagon. Trump announced this on Tuesday, November 12, on his social network Truth Social.
According to Trump, Hegseth is “tough and smart” and also believes that America must come first.
“Pete has spent his entire life as a warrior for his army and for his country. Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies must watch out – our military will be great again, and America will never back down,” Trump wrote.
It is known that the 44-year-old TV presenter served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been working for the Fox News channel for the past 8 years.
Hegseth is a longtime Trump fan and conservative. His opinion about Ukraine remains unknown.
Trump confirmed the appointment of Florida Congressman Mike Walt as national security adviser in his incoming administration.
