Reuters confirms that Donald Trump has already spoken to Vladimir Putin by phone. The Washington Post reported this on November 10.
At the same time, the agency refutes the newspaper’s information that Ukraine was aware of this conversation.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry said it was not informed in advance about the call between Trump and Putin, the agency reported.
Reuters does not provide details of the conversation, stating only that Trump advised ways not to escalate the war in Ukraine (as WP also wrote about).
Trump’s conversations were neither confirmed nor denied.
“We do not comment on private conversations between President Trump and other world leaders,” said Stephen Chung, Trump’s communications director.
The Washington Post, citing sources, wrote that the winner of the US presidential election called on the Russian President “not to resort to escalating the war against Ukraine” and recalled the significant US military presence in Europe.
According to sources, Trump allegedly expressed interest in further conversations to discuss “a solution to the war in Ukraine in the near future.”
