Israel’s prime minister said that this operation has opponents in the country’s defense department.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted for the first time that Israel was behind the explosions of pagers and radios by members of the terrorist group Hezbollah in September. He said this on Sunday, November 10, at a weekly meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, reports The Times of Israel.

“The pager operation and the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah were carried out despite the opposition of defense officials and those responsible for them in the political echelon,” Netanyahu said.

Journalists noted that the prime minister was referring to recently fired Defense Minister Yoava Gallant.

It will be recalled that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Nasrallah was killed in an airstrike on September 27 in Beirut.
