Azerbaijan invited representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency to Afghanistan as observers.

Taliban representatives will attend the United Nations climate conference for the first time next week. Reuters reported this on Sunday, November 10.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said that representatives of the National Environmental Protection Agency have arrived in Baku.

Azerbaijan has reportedly invited representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency to Afghanistan as observers.

Because the UN does not recognize the radical Islamist Taliban government, they do not have the authority to participate in discussions with UN member states.

Afghanistan is considered one of the countries most affected by climate change. Hundreds of people have died in floods this year. Relying on agriculture, the country has experienced one of the worst droughts in decades. There are food shortages in many regions of the country.

Note that in mid-August 2021, the Taliban, during a rapid offensive, took control of the entire territory of Afghanistan, capturing the country’s capital and largest city, Kabul, without a fight.

Western countries do not recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan. The UN Security Council listed the Taliban as a terrorist organization in 2003.

Let’s remember that in January 2024, China established diplomatic relations with the Taliban terrorist movement, which seized power in Afghanistan.
