The spokesman of the department, Georgy Tikhy, emphasized that Ukraine itself should determine the path to peace, because the war is happening on its soil.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the United States was allegedly preparing important “decisions” in Ukraine. The Foreign Ministry recalled that Ukraine itself should determine the path to peace. This was confirmed by the commentary of the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tikhy.
Tusk previously commented on the so-called peace plan of Donald Trump, published by the Western media, and stressed that such a plan is probably still in the preparation stage.
According to him, in the near future we can expect a declaration from the United States, in particular, on the date of the ceasefire, on which border it will work, and security guarantees for Ukraine.
At the same time, Tusk said that the decision on the war in Ukraine “cannot be made on the heads of not only Ukrainians, but also ours.”
The representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Georgiy Tikhy, thanked the Prime Minister of Poland for confirming his commitment to the principle “there is nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,” but added that only Ukraine can determine the path to peace, because there is a war in its territory.
“The war is on Ukrainian soil, so Ukraine will determine the parameters of the path to a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace against Ukraine with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, international law, goals and principles of the UN Charter,” said Tikhy.
Earlier, the media, citing their sources, announced that Donald Trump has formulated a plan to end the war in Ukraine. He suggests that “Ukraine does not join NATO,” and that Putin is “being put under economic pressure.”
