The prosecutor’s office in the Polish city of Opole has charged a police officer with excessive use of force against a Ukrainian.

The police face up to five years in prison. He testified in the case, but pleaded not guilty. The law enforcement officer was suspended from his duties and was also banned from leaving Poland.
According to the spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office, an autopsy of the body of the Ukrainian showed that he may have died as a result of a sudden stop of respiratory functions, that is, because of irritation. However, the exact cause of death can only be announced after all the tests.
