The team of the US President-elect denied the embarrassing statement about Crimea and peace in Ukraine.
A spokesman for US President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team said Republican Brian Lanza did not speak on behalf of the president when he made the statement about Crimea and peace in Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters on Saturday, November 9.
It was noted that Lanza does not work for the politician and does not speak for him. A representative of Trump’s team said they are now recruiting members of the future administration and developing policies for the president’s second term.
Let’s recall that Lanza previously said that the new White House administration turned to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to give his version of a “realistic worldview.”
“And if President Zelensky sits at the negotiating table and says that we can achieve peace only if we have Crimea, he will show us that he is not serious about it… Crimea is gone,” the Republican said.
Lanza emphasized that the new administration will focus on achieving peace in Ukraine, and not on returning territories occupied by Russia.
Zelensky has repeatedly mentioned that a just peace will come only when all Russian troops leave the sovereign territory of Ukraine, including Crimea.
