Donald Trump’s adviser said that Ukraine should give up its claims to Crimea because it is unrealistic.
The Trump administration will focus on achieving peace in Ukraine rather than returning occupied territories, Trump senior adviser Brian Lanza told BBC-Ukraine.
He also stated that “there is no more Ukrainian Crimea.”
Lanza is a senior adviser to newly elected US President Donald Trump and a strategist for the Republican Party.
According to him, the United States will ask Zelensky for a version of the “real vision of the world.”
If the president of Ukraine says that we can only have peace if Crimea is returned, it will show that he is not serious,” Lanza said.
The adviser added that he has great respect for the Ukrainian people, but the priority for the United States is “peace and stopping the killing.” He also said that the US and EU did not provide Ukraine with enough weapons to win the war at the very beginning.
President Zelensky must show us a realistic plan for negotiations. If he says that peace is only possible with the return of Crimea, he will show that he is not serious, Lanza said.
At the same time, Lanza noted the courage of the Ukrainians, who “fight like lions,” but noted that the goal of the United States is “to achieve peace and stop the deaths.”
In November 2019, UP reported that Vladimir Zelensky’s assistant Andrei Ermak met in Kyiv with “American lobbyist Brian Lanza,” who helped lift sanctions against Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
The UP did not know what Ermak and the lobbyist close to Donald Trump were talking about.
The meeting between Zelensky’s official assistant and the American lobbyist, witnessed by a UP journalist, took place on the evening of November 13 at the Goodman restaurant in Kiev on Zhilyanskaya Street. At first, Lanza spent time in the company of Ermak’s assistant, and at about 22:00 Zelensky’s assistant himself joined them.
CNN previously reported that Lanza was one of the lobbyists who achieved the lifting of sanctions from the companies of Deripaska, who is close to the Kremlin. Lanza previously served as an adviser to Trump during his presidential campaign. According to American media, the lobbyist was in constant contact with White House officials.
