A fine of 20 decillion dollars is several times larger than the size of the entire global economy.
Russia has fined the American company Google $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 ($20 decillion). The company was awarded this amount for refusing to pay fines for blocking pro-Kremlin channels on YouTube, CNN wrote.
A Russian court has ordered Google to restore YouTube channels, some of which have been blocked since 2022.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he “cannot even pronounce this number correctly,” and stressed that Google should not limit the actions of Russian broadcasters on its platform.
Google said that civil judgments, including complex fines, have been imposed on them in connection with disputes over the closure of accounts, including authorized ones. The company noted that it does not believe that the current legal cases will have a significant negative impact on its activities.
It is worth noting that the fine of 20 decillion dollars is several times larger than the volume of the entire global economy.
It was previously reported that Russian state channels demanded 2 undecillion rubles (one followed by 36 zeros) from Google for blocking YouTube.
We remind you that Google prohibits the creation of a new account with a phone number in Russia.
