Ukrainian and Russian ombudsmen met in Belarus on November 8.
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmitry Lubinets, held a meeting with the Russian Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. They exchanged lists of prisoners of war. Lubinets reported this on Facebook.
The Ukrainian Ombudsman also spoke with the leadership of the ICRC missions in Ukraine and Russia. He once again noted the need for Red Cross representatives to have access to Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians.
“I would like to note that I interact with the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights to resolve humanitarian issues, return home Ukrainians, and obtain information about our citizens in Russia,” he noted.
According to Lubinets, during the meeting a new format was launched – letters were sent from Ukrainian relatives to Ukrainian prisoners of war who are being held on the territory of the aggressor country.
Let us remind you that on November 8, Ukraine returned the bodies of 563 dead soldiers. 320 bodies of those killed in the Donetsk direction and 89 bodies of fallen soldiers from the Bakhmut direction were repatriated. In addition, 154 bodies were returned from morgues in Russia.
