Enter the world of sound and light with super fun science experiments you can do in the comfort of your own home

EYE ON THE LIGHT
You will need:
- 1 flashlight
- 1 sheet of paper towel
- 1 piece of plastic wrap
- 1 sheet of bond paper
- 1 black cardboard
- Thick dark fabric
- 1 piece of cardboard
Step 1: Cover the front of the lantern with a sheet of paper towel. Turn on the flashlight and observe. Hang up and write down your observations.
Step 2: Repeat this experiment with the other items on the list and write down all the results on your record.
What happens: the beam of light from the flashlight passes through transparent materials. Others, like paper towels and sulfite, allow some light to pass through (they are called translucent). Thicker and darker materials, such as black cardboard, thick fabric and cardboard, prevent the passage of light because they absorb light energy (they are called opaque).
WHAT IS THAT NOISE?
You will need:
- 1 alarm clock
- cardboard box
- Wrapping paper
- Bubble wrap
- 1 bath towel
Step 1: Set the alarm clock to go off in 5 minutes. Place it inside the cardboard box and cover it. When it rings, write down a score between 1 and 10 on the table about the quality of the noise you heard.
Step 2: Open the box, take out the alarm clock and set it again to go off in about 5 minutes. Wrap it with gift paper and place it back in the closed box. As soon as he wakes up, give a note on the table. Repeat the experiment using the bubble wrap and bath towel.
What happens: sound propagates in the form of invisible waves, which travel through the air. When someone or something emits a sound, each molecule that makes up the air starts to vibrate, transmitting this vibration to neighboring molecules and so on. This is why sound cannot propagate in a vacuum, where there is no medium such as air or water. And have you noticed that the volume of the sound changes depending on the material used to wrap it? In the box, it is a little muffled because the cardboard absorbs part of the sound waves; on gift paper, as it is thin, the noise is similar; With bubble wrap and towels, which absorb more sound waves, the noise is almost isolated.
SOUND OF STRINGS
You will need:

What happens: the air passes through the narrow part of the balloon and produces a sound. The same happens when air passes through our vocal cords. This is how we can speak and produce sounds.
THROUGH THE WATER
You will need:
- 1 glass cup
- Water
- Gooseberry
- 1 flashlight
Step 1: Place the glass in front of the flashlight, turn on the light and write down the result.
Step 2: Now, put water in the glass and see what happens. Then add the currants, mix and turn on the flashlight. Write down what you observed.
What happens: the light passes through the glass of water, but the image is distorted. This occurs whenever a ray of light passes from one medium to another: the light interacts with the water particles and its speed decreases. The glass with the currant only lets the red light pass through – the light from the flashlight is made up of all the colors and the red from the currant blocks the others. This type of material is called a filter. It’s the same principle as sunscreen: it blocks ultraviolet rays (invisible, but dangerous for the skin).
