Poland does not approve of the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine.
In particular, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak Kamysh opposes this. The head of the defense department said that Poland itself needs these planes because they protect the Polish sky. He stated this in an interview with Radio ZET.
For example, MiG-29 – they patrol the Polish skies, they serve Polish pilots. I cannot say that I agree with the transfer of aircraft. “On my part there is no consent to this,” said the head of the Ministry of Defense.
The minister added that Poland is now one of the leaders in providing military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Kosinyak-Kamysh noted that this is allegedly very often forgotten. And he emphasized that the Polish side transferred as much military equipment as it could, but the limit to this is the security of the country.
Let us recall that in October, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine would still like to receive MiG-29 fighters from Poland, but the Polish side is not yet providing these aircraft.
After this, Polish Foreign Minister Radislaw Sikorski recalled that Warsaw had already provided Kyiv with assistance in the amount of $217 billion. He also emphasized that Poland remains a front-line country, and therefore there is a threat for it as well.
