The head of the Kremlin acknowledged the possibility of negotiations with Trump, but has not yet called him.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin welcomed Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States and declared his readiness to talk with him. He spoke about the Kremlin leader at a plenary session of the Valdai discussion club in Sochi on Thursday, November 7.
“I use this opportunity to congratulate him on his election as President of the United States, as I have already said, we will work with any head of state that the American people trust.
The Russian dictator added that he was ready to communicate with Trump and “doesn’t consider it embarrassing” to call him on the phone. But he is not doing this, because it is alleged that the leaders of the Western states suddenly stopped calling him.
Journalists asked Putin if he was ready to talk to Trump. “Ready,” replied the Russian dictator.
“But what has been said publicly so far… what has been said about the desire to continue relations with Russia, to help end the crisis in Ukraine (as Putin called the war against Ukraine – ed.) , in my opinion, deserves attention as a minimum,” the Kremlin leader added.
Let’s remember that during the election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised to quickly end the war in Ukraine. He explained that he knows the leaders of Ukraine and Russia very well.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that contacts between Putin and Trump could take place before the inauguration of the US president-elect.
