President Vladimir Zelensky gave a press conference following his participation in the summit of the European Political Community in Budapest.
In particular, he commented on the promise of US President-elect Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. He believes that the American leader wants to bring peace to Ukrainian soil. He has not yet spoken to Trump about this. The head of state’s speech was broadcast on his Facebook page.
I am sure that a quick end to the war means losses… if it’s just quick, it’s losses for Ukraine. I just don’t understand how it is any other way yet. Maybe there is something we don’t know, something we don’t see. It happens. “We need a little time,” he said.
Zelensky also noted that a bilateral agreement with Hungary was not signed due to the lack of a clause on supporting Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
Both sides. Support for Ukraine in the EU and Hungary’s support for Ukraine in NATO are important to us. The document currently does not contain Hungarian support for Ukraine in NATO. Since this is not the case, this document is not signed. This is the point,” he emphasized.
The president also said that the number of North Korean troops in the war with Ukraine will increase if there is no political pressure on the aggressor country, Russia.
He added that there is very dangerous rhetoric among some partners like “first a ceasefire, and then we will see.”
Zelensky summed up that, as a result of the summit of the European Political Community, there are positive decisions on the military strengthening of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that on November 7, at the summit of the European Political Community in Budapest, about 50 leaders of EU countries agreed to urge the future US president to continue to support Ukraine. They will also ask Trump to avoid trade wars and refrain from disrupting the world order.
