The Russian Federation should be forced to support UN efforts aimed at exporting grain from Ukrainian ports, the State Department insisted.
The G20 countries should hold Russia accountable for blocking Ukrainian ports. This was announced on July 5 by Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Ramin Tolui, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“The G20 countries must hold Russia accountable and insist that it supports the UN’s ongoing efforts to open shipping lanes for grain,” Tolui said in a briefing on U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s upcoming trip to Indonesia. and Thailand.
He recalled that the UN was once again trying to open the Black Sea for the supply of Ukrainian and Russian food products, as well as fertilizers, to world markets.
According to Tolui, energy and food security issues are among the main topics of the upcoming summit of G20 foreign ministers.
The assistant to the head of the State Department added that at the July 7-8 meeting in Bali, Blinken will try to mobilize support from member countries “to meet critical food needs by mobilizing additional assistance to humanitarian and development. “
It was previously reported that after the G20 summit, the US Secretary of State will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where he will “honestly discuss” the war in Ukraine.
At the same time, Blinken is not planning separate negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
