The Ukrainian leader called Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election a “special day”.
President Vladimir Zelensky once again congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election and compared him to America’s 40th president, Ronald Reagan. The head of state said this in an evening video message on Wednesday, November 6.
“Today is truly a special day, and all over the world one news attracts all the attention. A completely convincing result of the American election. The clear leadership of President Trump. Congratulations on this victory,” said Zelensky.
The president noted that it was “very important” for him to hear Trump’s words “peace through strength,” which he said during his last presidency in 2016-2020. The Ukrainian leader believes that “America and the whole world will certainly benefit” from such a policy.
“It’s not for nothing that Ronald Reagan is remembered so often now (President Reagan also liked to repeat the phrase “peace through strength” – ed.) – people want confidence, they want freedom, a normal life,” Zelensky said.
According to the head of state, Ukraine definitely needs “strong America” and “strong allies” in general.
The president added that after his meeting with Trump in the United States, their teams “had interaction.” Then they talked about defense, the economy and the future after the war.
“We have the potential for stronger cooperation. This is what will make Ukraine, America, and the whole world more successful,” Zelensky stressed.
Remember that Republican candidate Donald Trump won the US presidential election. The total number of votes for Trump reached the 270 required for victory.
