North Korean forces “receive Russian uniforms and Russian equipment” and are sent to the Kursk region, where they will “provide a certain potential.”
There are approximately 10 thousand military personnel from North Korea in the Kursk region. However, it is not known if they took part in the battle. This was announced on Tuesday, November 5, by US Department of Defense press secretary Pat Ryder in a briefing at the Pentagon.
At the same time, he suggested that as a result of the Pentagon’s reassessment of new data, the overall assessment of the presence of North Korean troops in Russia may be slightly higher.
“We believe that the total number of North Korean forces in Russia may be closer to about 11-12 thousand, of which 10 thousand are currently in the Kursk region,” Ryder said.
According to Ryder, North Korean forces are “receiving Russian uniforms and equipment.”
“Everything indicates that they will provide some type of combat or combat support capability,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
He did not say whether North Korean forces were stationed in Russia as part of Russia’s own units or as independent units.
We remind you that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed the information that the Ukrainian Armed Forces went to war with North Korean troops for the first time after the DPRK sent its forces to help Russia.
Earlier on Tuesday, the media reported, citing sources in the Main Intelligence Directorate, that the first military clash between Ukrainian fighters and the North Korean military has already taken place on the territory of the Kursk region.
