In the Indian state of Uttarakhand, a bus fell into a deep ravine, killing at least 36 people. Al Jazeera reported this.
According to the state’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the accident occurred on November 4 in the Marchula area of Almora district in the Indian Himalayas.
Senior official Vinit Pal added that some of the injured have been flown for special treatment.
It appears from the preliminary investigation that the bus skidded before falling down a 60-meter cliff. Several passengers escaped, thrown from the bus by the impact, and the accident was later reported to the authorities.
The bus was coming from Garhwal district in northern Uttarakhand and was heading to Ramnagar, local police officer Devendra Pincha said. There were at least 42 passengers on the bus, Reuters reports.
